About the Event
Call topic 3 is dealing with the challenges related to Energy-intensive industries, particularly steel, chemicals and cement, as an essential part of Europe’s economy and supply critical value chains. However, they also account for 20% of the EU’s greenhouse-gas emissions, making their decarbonisation and modernisation a top priority. Following the recommendations of the High-Level Expert Group on Energy-Intensive Industries, the actions under this area support switching to alternative, climate-neutral energy and feedstock sources. Area 3 comprises the following topics:
3.1: Closing the industrial carbon cycle to combat climate change- Industrial feasibility of catalytic routes for sustainable alternatives to fossil resources
3.2: Demonstration of systemic solutions for the territorial deployment of the circular economy
Call topic 4 is dealing with Building and Renovating in an Energy and Resource Efficient Way. The built environment remains a strategic research and innovation domain in view of the goal of full de-carbonisation by 2050. The priority is the design and construction of new or retrofitting of existing buildings as zero-emission/zero-pollution, positive energy powerhouses within sustainable green neighbourhoods.
The two major components of this transition are:
(1) Designing and constructing buildings to reduce their embodied emissions and increase their energy efficient operation. Retrofitting existing buildings to improve their energy efficiency.
(2) Energy positive buildings (producing electricity, covering their heating and cooling needs and contributing to the grid stability) with sustainable, renewable energy technologies
The Webinar will provide a comprehensive insights, scopes and expectations into the calls.
The Webinar will be held on Thursday, 22.10.2020 between 11:00-13:00
